NCC reached a decision to block all sims not registered with NIN after a meeting of stakeholders in the communication industry.

The stakeholders resolved to mandating all network providers to ask their subscribers to provide a valid NIN to update their sim registration record.

The meeting which was convened by the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami also directed that the update of subscribers sim registration record should be carried out between December 16 and December 30th.

During the stakeholders meeting,  a ministerial taskforce was set-up to ensure that all network providers comply with the fresh directive.

Pantami further warned that the violation of these directives will be met with strict sanctions.

AllNews recalls that NCC had earlier directed Mobile Network Operators to suspend the sale and activation of new SIM cards to allow an audit of the Subscriber Registration Database.
