Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed, via its verified website that the country recorded 47 new COVID-19 infections and one death on Friday.
The figures reported were generated in eight of the 36 states of the federation.
It stated that the new infections brought the number of infected in the country to 253,970 and the death toll to 3,140.
Lagos State recorded 22 of the new infections, while the FCT, Kwara and Osun State recorded five cases each.
Delta and Kaduna State had three cases each; Jigawa reported two cases, while Nasarawa and Rivers had one case each.
The NCDC also stated that 24 persons recuperated from the virus in the last 24 hours and have been discharged from isolation centres, noting that the total number of recoveries stood at 230,317.
