NDE DG Representative, Abudllahi Danjuma-Machika
The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) said it has begun the training of 130 Kebbi women in different skills in a move to reduce poverty amongst them.
The Director-General of the directorate, Abubakar Nuhu-Fikpo, disclosed this at the inauguration of the training in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.
The Director, who was represented by NDE Coordinator in Kaduna State, Abdullahi Danjuma-Machika, said: “It is NDE’s desire to ensure that women are trained across the nation to be self-employed and that is why the training is free.
“The President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is doing its best to generate employment through skills acquisition.
"It has invested in paying trainers to impact skills on the beneficiaries of these empowerment programs.
“The aim of this is for women to be empowered, create wealth and empower others.”
He further explained that participants for the training were selected from the 21 local government areas of the state, adding that the trainings will take place within five days simultaneously in different locations of the state.
According to him, 50 women will be trained in tie and dye, 50 in make-up, gele and events management and 30 will receive training in stone, beads, perfumery and events management.
He urged the participants to take the training seriously to achieve its aim.
