The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a pregnant woman, a nursing mother, a 200-level university student and 28 others with narcotics.
The suspects were arrested in possession of 9,437.6kgs of cannabis and 138,053 tablets of pharmaceutical opioids in different raids.
This was disclosed by the spokesperson of the agency, Femi Babafemi today in Abuja.
According to him, the suspects were arrested in Yobe, Ondo, Edo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Jigawa, Kogi, Adamawa, Kaduna, FCT Abuja, Kwara, and Lagos states.
He said operatives of the agency intercepted 48kgs of Cannabis in Buni Yadi of Yobe state.
Two suspects identified as Mohammed Mamuda and a married pregnant woman, Hauwa Haruna were arrested with 56 blocks (31kgs) of cannabis in Potiskum of the same state.
In the FCT, the agency also raided a large cannabis warehouse in Gwagwalada.
“A total of 510 jumbo bags of the illicit substance weighing 5, 640kgs were recovered from the store with a nursing mother who was in charge, Sa’adatu Abdullahi, 35, arrested", the statement reads.
The chairman and Chief Executive of the agency, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (retrd) commended the officers involved in the different raids across the states which brought victory to the agency.
