NECO Postpones Writing Of Missed Papers To 2021

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has shifted the missed papers to the year 2021.

The examination body, in a statement cited the #EndSARS protest as the reason for the rescheduling.

In the statement issued by the body's registrar, Godswill Obioma, the rescheduled exams have been slated for February 1 and March 3, 2021.

“The management of the National Examinations Council has graciously approved that the Chemistry Paper I and Commerce Papers II and III postponed in the wake of the EndSARS protests be taken during the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE external) holding between 1st February and 3rd March 2021.  Candidates with any specific challenge involving Economics II & III and Technical Drawing I should take advantage of this opportunity,” the statement read.

In reaction to the news, the Chairman of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Lagos chapter, said that the postponement would have a psychological effect on the students.

He said, “It will affect the children who are relying on such result for admission. Many higher institutions have started processing admission and some of them need it. For the council to have postponed it to next year will have a great effect on the children. It will affect the admission processing. It will affect them psychologically.”
