NEDC Commissions Hybrid Solar Boreholes At Yobe NYSC Camp

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has commissioned 10,000 litters of water hybrid solar borehole at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Yobe state.

This was stated at the inauguration ceremony of the project on Tuesday by the Managing Director of the NEDC, Mohammed Alkali.

He explained that the commission will remain focused on rebuilding the sub-region by enhancing the capacity of the citizens.

He noted that the project was to bring relief to corp members in the camp who suffer from the lack of water.

He added that the hybrid solar borehole will be powered by solar and generator. 

Alkali also disclosed that the commission has approved the construction of a 250-seater lecture theatre at the Yobe State University (YSU).

He added that the commission had released N500 million for the project and further reiterated the commission's commitment to the education sector.

“One of the centres is situated here in Yobe State University, aside from this, we have approved to build a 250 lecture theatre which will cost about N500 million.

"The education sector is important to us; we will support you. We will continue to rebuild institutions and empower our people across this region."

The MD of the NEDC also appreciated the Yobe state government for supporting the commission. 

Meanwhile, the governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni who was represented by his Commissioner for Science and Technology, Professor Muhammad Mukaila expressed his delight over the project while commending the commission for its support of education.

“I commend you for the giant strides in the education sector. You need to invest in agriculture and human development, this will boost our economy."
