The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has commenced the training of 300 school teachers in Adamawa State to promote quality education in the north.
As reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), 150 trainees each from basic and post-basic schools were selected for the training organised by the NEDC Education Endowment Fund.
The Technical Assistant to the NEDC Chairman, Joshua Ibrahim, disclosed that the upskilling of the teachers was to improve their knowledge, thereby promoting quality education in the north.
"We are aware that there is a gap of knowledge and it is that gap we are trying to fill.
“So you need to concentrate and make sure you learn the skills that will enable you to impact your students and colleagues,” Ibrahim explained.
The Executive Secretary, Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) praised the commission for the upskilling, noting that it complimented the action of the Adamawa State government that recently employed 2,000 teachers.
One of the trainees, Malam Musa Yusuf complimented NEDC for the training, assuring the impartation of the knowledge from the training to their students.
