NELFUND postpones student loan application for state-owned institutions

NELFUND postpones student loan application for state-owned i

NELFUND has announced a 14-day postponement of the student loan application process for state-owned institutions, citing insufficient data submissions.

According to a statement from the agency in Abuja, only a limited number of state universities, colleges, and polytechnics have successfully uploaded required student information to the NELFUND Student Verification System.

Out of the total institutions, 20 state universities, 12 state colleges, and 2 state polytechnics have completed the data submission.

Originally scheduled to open on June 25, 2024, the application window will now begin on July 10, 2024.

This extension aims to allow more time for state institutions to comply with data submission requirements, ensuring accurate verification for student loan applicants under the Federal Government scheme.

NELFUND emphasized the importance of comprehensive and correct data submissions, including JAMB numbers, matriculation numbers, admission details, program specifics, fees, and student demographics. Incomplete or inaccurate submissions may delay applications or disqualify students from eligibility.

NELFUND urged all state institutions to expedite their data submissions to avoid disadvantaging students who rely on these loans to fund their education. Institutions failing to meet the revised deadline risk affecting their students' access to vital financial support.
