The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has expressed appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for the 10 days extension of the Naira swap date and the execution of Federal Government projects in Kano.
The Emir expressed his appreciation when he received the President at his Palace today.
President Buhari was in Kano on one-day visit to commission eight mega-projects executed by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
After several pleas and calls to the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele and the Presidency, there was an extension on the initial January 31 deadline for swap or old Naira notes for new ones.
The initial deadline caused panic and scarcity of the new notes, leading to inflation and displeasure amongst Nigerians.
The Emir however noted that the extension is in the interest of the people.
Emir Aminu Ado Bayero who is the chairman, Kano State Council of Emirs, further appreciated President Buhari for always finding it necessary to visit the Palace whenever he is in Kano, recalling that for three years he has been on the throne, the President has visited the Palace three times.
He prayed for peaceful election, and urged politicians to eschew violence and hate speech as they carry on with their electioneering campaigns for the forthcoming general elections in March and February.
In his remarks, Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who officially introduced President Buhari to Emir Aminu Bayero said the mega projects inaugurated in the state will be of huge benefits to the people.
