Four persons have been reported dead while several others were injured in 2 separate car accidents along the Abakaliki-Enugu expressway on New Year Day.
Anthony Okore, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps Ebonyi Command told the News Agency of Nigeria that the two accidents happened in separate locations.
He stated in his statements that “The first accident involved a tanker coming from Abakaliki to Enugu and a Sienna vehicle coming from Lagos to Abakaliki."
“The tanker was trying to avoid a pothole and then hit a motorcycle, which led to 2 person death. 2 also died from the Sienna which totalled 4 deaths. Others Injured were rushed to the hospital."
He stated that the second accident involved a truck loaded with food items that somersaulted on the road. No life was lost in the incident.
The incident caused road blockage which was later cleared by the FRSC personnel.
