Newcastle Thumping Of PSG Has Not Altered Our Expectations — Howe

Newcastle Thumping Of PSG Has Not Altered Our Expectations

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe says his side's thumping of Paris St-Germain (PSG) in the Champions League has not altered their expectations for the 2023-24 campaign.

The Magpies won 4-1 against PSG in midweek to move to the top of the table in Group F.

Goals from Miguel Almiron, Dan Burn, Sean Longstaff and Fabian Schar marked a triumphant return for Newcastle in the competition at St James' Park in 20 years.

Asked about whether PSG's win altered expectations before Sunday's trip to West Ham, Howe said: "My expectations are 'can we win our next game?'

"I know it's a bit dull but I'm not looking three or four weeks ahead. The PSG win doesn't alter my expectations.

"Games are going to come thick and fast so we can only look at the one in front of us. The better you get, the harder then it becomes to get even better.

"We're looking to push those small margins."
