Newcastle Utd To Face Bournemouth As Carabao Cup Resumes

Bournemouth v Newcastle United

AFC Bournemouth will be hoping to make further progress when they face Premier League rivals Newcastle United in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

The Cherries beat Norwich City on penalties in August before recording a convincing 4-1 win over Everton last month to set up a trip to St James’ Park.

Eddie Howe, who was appointed Newcastle's head coach in November 2021, guided the Cherries to the quarterfinals of the competition three times during his time at Vitality Stadium.

Newcastle booked their place in the fourth round when goalkeeper Nick Pope saved three spot-kicks in a penalty shootout against Crystal Palace after the tie had finished goalless.

In the second round in August, the Magpies were forced to come from behind to see off League Two outfit Tranmere Rovers, Jamaal Lascelles and Chris Wood on target at Prenton Park.

League Cup runners-up in 1976, Newcastle are currently third in the Premier League having lost just one game all season, against Liverpool at Anfield at the end of August.
