The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has expressed their satisfaction over Flying Eagles' winning start at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup on Sunday.
The Eagles recorded a slim 2-1 win against the Dominican Republic at the Estadio Malvinas Mendoza.
Edison Azcona gave the debutants the lead from the spot on before the Eagles rallied to win the game courtesy of Guillermo de Pena’s own goal and Samson Lawal’s strike.
“We are happy with the three points though we wanted the boys to win by a higher margin as goals advantage do matter along the line in a competition such as this,” NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi told thenff.com.
“The next two matches will be much tougher and I expect the Flying Eagles to also show sterner stuff.”
