Nigeria’s Governor’s Wives Forum (NGWF) has pledged to partner the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in its fight against the prevention of drug abuse in their respective states.
In a press statement signed by the NDLEA media officer, Femi Baba, the NGWF pledged their commitment after a two-day drug prevention programme organised by the Drug Agency in Abuja.
Chairperson of the (NGWF) and wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, revealed that the training had further opened up new perspectives on the drug problem in the country, propelling them to take a lead in reversing the situation.
The First Ladies along with the NDLEA agreed that a State Drug Control Committees SDCC will be formed and chaired by the wives.
The focus will be on evidence-based interventions, capacity building of frontline workers, making primary health care centres open to drug users amongst other programmes.
