NGX All-Share Index surges by 0.70 per cent, reaching 102,04

A total trading value of N17.1 billion was reached during today's NGX session, indicating strong market activity.

The All-Share Index increased by 0.70%, or 713.99 points, to close at 102,044.84 points, maintaining its upward trend from the previous week.

Market capitalization increased by 0.7% to close at N57.697 trillion from N57.29 trillion the previous Friday as a result of an N407 billion spike in stocks. 

The market had a positive breadth, with 16 losses and 34 winners over the day.

Transcorp Power, which increased its bullish trend by around 4.98%, and GTCO, which traded roughly 96.63 million units, were significant market movers.

Honeywell Flour, NEM Insurance, and Dangote Sugar Refinery were the biggest gainers of the day, up 10%, 10%, and 9.97%, respectively.

The trade volume increased by 22% to 436.90 million units, up from 358.12 million units last Friday. In terms of valuation, the market dropped 14% to N17.1 billion from N19.88 billion last Friday.  

The NGX All-Share Index closed at 102,044.84 points, up 0.70 percent for the day. It ranged between the lowest and highest points of the day, 101,294.91 and 102,044.84 points. The index is up 36.47% year to date, demonstrating strong performance.

The entire market capitalization was N57.70 trillion, with a total volume of 436.90 million units exchanged throughout the day. The entire value exchanged was N17.1 billion, indicating strong market activity.

Top gainers included NEM, HONYFLOUR, DANGSUGAR, NASCON, WEMABANK, and ELLAHLAKES, which increased by 9.67% to 10.00%. PRESTIGE, LASACO, UACN, RTBRISCOE, INTENEGINS, and ETERNA were among the worst performers, with decreases ranging from 6.71% to 10.00%.

GTCO (+1.95%) had the highest trading volume with 96.63 million units, followed by TRANSCORP (+4.71%) with 73.86 million, ACCESSCORP (+1.74%) with 48.09 million, UBA (+5.02%) with 21.58 million, and NASCON (+9.92%) with 19.57 million.  

Concerning value, TRANSPOWER (+4.98%) led with N5.93 trillion, followed by GTCO (+1.95%) with N4.02 trillion, TRANSCORP (+4.71%) with N1.23 trillion, NASCON (+9.92%) with N1.13 trillion, and ACCESSCORP (+1.74%) with N988.35 million.  

Trading sentiment was mixed for companies worth more than a trillion dollars, with price advances registered by GTCO (+1.95%), ZENITHBANK (+6.47%), and TRANSPOWER (+4.98%). However, FBNH (-1.23%) had a price fall.  

Other SWOOT members, including AIRTELAFRI, MTNN, BUACEMENT, BUAFOODS, DANGCEM, TRANSCOHOT, GEREGU, and SEPLAT, reported no pricing increases.  

Trading sentiment was largely favourable among tier-1 banks, with price gains reported by ACCESSCORP (+1.74%) and UBA (+5.02%).
