NGX ASI Sets Another Record Of 44,608.80 Bps As Market Cap A

Massive buying sentiment returned to the NGX equity market as gains from SEPLAT (+2.99%), DANGCEM (+6.18%), and MTNN (+2.15%) reversed the 0.09% loss recorded in the previous session trade. Accordingly, the all-share index grew by 1.71% from its’ previous session position of 43,859.30 basis points to close at 44,608.80 basis points.

Consequently, the all-share index figure of 44,608.80 basis points becomes the new all-time high, thereby replacing the old 52-week highest resistance point of 43,897.13 bps by 711.67 bps.

As a result, the Week-to-Date (W-t-D), Month-to-Date (M-t-D), and Year-to-Date (Y-t-D) gain increased to +4.43%, all-round respectively.

Unfortunately, the volume and value aspects of trade continued their decline yesterday, as the total volume of trade decreased by 9.6% to 266.33 million units, as against its previous session figure of 295 million units traded. These shares’ values, which decreased by 43.53%, were worth NGN3.8 billion and exchanged in 4,502 deals as against NGN6.77 billion previously.

Meanwhile, the equity market capitalization gained NGN402.94 billion to close at NGN24,033.52 trillion, as against the previous session day position of NGN23,630.58 trillion.

TRANSCORP (+5.10%) was the most traded stock by volume with 89 million units, while SEPLAT (+2.99%), and DANGCEM (+6.18%) were the most traded stock by value at NGN930.2 million and NGN588.6 million respectively.

Finally, as measured by market breadth, market sentiment was positive, as 24 companies’ stocks gained relative to 13 gainers.

The most gains were made by ACADEMY (+10.00%), which closed trading at NGN0.66/unit, JAIZBANK (+10.00%), which closed trading at NGN0.66/unit, and UNITYBNK (+8.70%), which closed trading at NGN0.50/unit, while REGALINS (-8.70%), which closed trading at NGN0.42/unit, CHIPLC (-8.70%) which closed trading at NGN0.63/unit, AIICO (-3.70%) which closed trading at NGN0.78/unit, NEIMETH (-3.23%) which closed trading at NGN1.83/unit, and CONOIL (-3.18%), which closed trading at NGN21.30/unit, suffered the most losses.
