NGX Equity Market Records First Gain As Investors Rake In N1

The domestic bourse reversed the two-day loss following investors’ demand for MTNN (+0.29%) and UBA (+0.59%) shares.

Thus, the all-share index grew by +0.05% to close at 47,364.46 basis points, down by 23.60 basis points from the previous session's close of 47,340.86 basis points.

Furthermore, the ASI index fell short of the 52-week high position, all-share index of 47,482.73 basis points (the highest resistance point) by 118.27 bps.

The Week-to-Date (W-t-D) and Month-to-Date (M-t-D) indices stayed negative by -0.15% and -0.06%, respectively, while the Year-to-Date (Y-t-D) indexes stayed positive by +10.88%.

Unfortunately, the volume of trade fell by 20.42% to close at 145.83 million units traded in 4,113 transactions, compared to the previous session's figure of 183.3 million units traded, while the value of shares also grew by 2.43% to close at NGN2.54 billion, compared to the previous session's figure of NGN2.48 billion traded.

As a result, the equity market gained NGN12.72 billion after it closed at NGN25,526.86 trillion instead of NGN25,514.14 trillion.

UBA, was the most dominant stock by volume, with 14.76 million units traded, while MTNN was the most dominant stock by value, with NGN458.93 million traded.

ZENITH BANK, with a share value of NGN266.1 million, and ACCESS, with a volume trade of 10.28 million units, were some of the notable mentions.

As measured by market breadth, the mood in the market was negative as 18 stocks gained relative to 15 stocks that lost.

The most gains were made by NPFMCRFBK (+10.00%), which closed trading at NGN2.31/unit, PZ (+9.79%), which closed trading at NGN7.85/unit, AIICO (+6.15%), which closed trading at NGN0.69/unit, and UNITYBNK (+4.17%), which closed trading at NGN0.50/unit.

ROYALEX (-9.73%) closed trading at NGN1.02/unit, while LIVESTOCK (-9.71%), closed trading at NGN1.58/unit, IMG (-9.47%) closed trading at NGN8.60/unit, and CHAMS (-8.70%) closed it's trading at NGN0.21/unit, registering the most loss.
