NGX Gains N226.12 Billion As ASI Peaks At 46,624.67 Bps

Trading on the Nigerian stock exchange kicked off on a positive note for the week as investors’ demand for shares of ZENITHBANK (+1.17%) and GTCO (+4.87%) drove the all-share-index higher. Thus, the all-share index grew by +0.91% to close at 46,624.67 bps.

The barrage of investors’ demand not only drove the ASI higher but also became the new 52-week All-Time-High (ATH) of 46,624.67 bps as it exceeded the old ATH of 46,529.99 bps by 94.68 bps and the previous session's ASI by 418.02 bps.

As a result, the Week-to-Date (W-t-D), Month-to-Date (M-t-D), and Year-to-Date (Y-t-D) indicators remained positive at +0.91%, +9.15%, and +9.15%, respectively.

Meanwhile, the volume of trade increased by +39.03% to 435,8 million units, which were traded in 6,482 transactions, compared to the previous session's figure of 313.4 million units traded.

Unfortunately, the value of shares fell by -31.61%, to close at NGN3.44 billion, as against the NGN5.03 billion traded previously.

Consequently, the equity market gained NGN226.12 billion as its cap closed at NGN25,124.35 trillion when compared to the previous session position of NGN24,898.23 trillion.

FIDELITYBK (+2.18%) was the most active stock by volume, as it generated NGN106.2 million in revenue from 38.04 million units of shares traded, while the most active stock by value was ZENITHBANK (+1.17%), as it generated NGN454.9 billion in revenue from 17.6 million units of shares traded.

Other notable mentions were GTCO (+4.87%), with 11.9 million units valued at NGN313.02 million, and PRESCO (+9.97%), with 2.1 million units worth NGN203.1 million traded.

As measured by market breadth, market sentiment was positive as 33 companies’ stocks gained relative to 21 losers.

The most gains were made by CHIPLC (+10.00%), which closed trading at NGN0.66/unit, NCR  (+10.00%), which closed trading at NGN3.30/unit, RTBRISCOE (+10.00%), which closed trading at NGN0.22/unit, and PRESCO (+9.97%), which closed trading at NGN96.55/unit, while UPL  (-9.94%), which closed trading at NGN2.40/unit, LASACO (-8.85%), which closed trading at NGN1.03/unit, LINKASSURE (-7.84%), which closed trading at NGN0.47/unit, and MBENEFIT (-7.14%), which closed trading at NGN0.26/unit, suffered the most losses.
