NGX rebounds, gains 2.2 per cent as All-Share Index hits 104

The NGX bounced back with a 2.22% gain as the All-Share Index hit 104,674.67 points, up 2272.79 points from last Friday's 102,481.55 points, after slowing down the positive momentum last week.

The market capitalization increased from N56.038 trillion last Friday to N57.282 trillion, generating gains for investors of N1.244 trillion.

Despite the market's bullish attitude, there were 24 gainers and 38 losers for the day, indicating a negative market breadth. On the other hand, Dangote Cement, which gained 9.93%, led the gainers' chart and maintained its positive trend.

The volume of trading increased by 32.8% to 689.93 million units from 519.39 million units on Friday. In terms of value, it increased by 193.1% to N25.94 billion from N8.85 billion last Friday. 

After closing at 104,674.67 points, the NGX All-Share Index showed a day change of +2.22%. The index moved from its lowest point at 100,682.64 points to its highest point at 105,005.75 points throughout the trading session.

The market capitalization was recorded at N57.28 trillion, a significant gain of +39.99% on the year-to-date (YTD) percentage.

Trading activity saw the exchange of 689.93 million units, valued at N25.94 billion.

Some of Monday's big gains included BERGER (+9.81% concluding at N17.35), TRIPPLEG (+9.89%), DANGCEM (+9.93%), DEAPCAP (+8.97% closing at N0.87), ROYALEX (+8.97% closing at N0.85), and OANDO (+9.96% closing at N13.80).

The biggest losses of the day were IKEJAHOTEL (leaving it at N6.75%), DAARCOMM (leaving it at N0.81%), CADBURY (leaving it at N20.70), NPFMCRFBK (leaving it at N1.95%), ELLAHLAKES (leaving it at N3.02), and REGALINS (leaving it at N0.45). Still, there were losses on certain stocks.

With 83.86 million units traded, JAPAULGOLD (+3.90%) was the top performer in terms of volume. Other top performers were TRANSCORP (-3.09%), ZENITHBANK (-2.33%), ACCESSCORP (-2.10%), and GTCO (-0.46%), with 42.80 million, 34.54 million, and 34.11 million, respectively.

With N8.58 billion, DANGCEM (+9.93%) was first in terms of trading value. BUACEMENT (+2.98%) was next with N5.38 billion, GTCO (-0.46%) had N1.50 billion, ZENITHBANK (-2.33%) had N1.46 billion, and STANBIC (0.00%) had N1.43 billion.

Regarding equities valued at more than N1 trillion, trading sentiment was divided between DANGCEM (+9.93%) and BUACEMENT (+2.98%). In contrast, prices decreased for ACCESSCORP (-2.10%), GTCO (-0.46%), ZENITHBANK (-2.33%), and UBA (-1.64%).

There were no pricing increases for other SWOOT members, including MTNN, TRANSCOHOT, BUAFOODS, GEREGU, AIRTELAFRI, and SEPLAT.

Today saw no changes in prices, according to FBNH.
