Niger Government Reveals Five-Day Programme Of Events For In

The Niger State Government has released a five-day programme of events for the inauguration of the Governor-elect, Umar Bago, and his deputy, Yakubu Garba.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Ahmed Matane on Tuesday in Minna, Niger State.

Matane said that the events would take place between May 24 and May 29, with the exception of May 27, which is Children’s Day.

He explained that the programme would commence with the Valedictory State Executive Council Meeting on May 24, at 11:00 a.m. and would be followed by Inaugural Lecture on May 25, by 10:00 am.

He said the handover of transition documents would also take place on May 25, at 2:00 pm at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre and Council Chamber, Government House, respectively.

He said special Jumma’at prayers would be held on May 26, at 2:00 p.m. at Central Mosque, Minna, while a special church service would take place at ECWA Goodnews Church behind Kure Market on May 28.

Matane added that there would be a polo tournament at the Minna Polo Ground by 4:00 pm and a pre-inauguration dinner at Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi Centre by 7:00 p.m. on May 28.

According to the SSG, the inauguration parade/swearing-in ceremony of the governor-elect would take place at the International Trade Fair Complex, Minna, on May 29.

“There will be a post-inauguration luncheon by 2:00 pm at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi Centre,” he said.
