Niger Governor-Elect Inaugurates 62-Member Transition Council For Seamless Handover

Niger State Governor-elect has inaugurated a 62-member transition council that will facilitate a seamless process which will usher in the next administration.

The inauguration was performed at the Idris Legbo Kutiigi International Conference Centre by the Governor-elect, Mohammed Umar Bago, in Minna.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the inauguration, the Governor-elect said the members were carefully selected for the task.

"We have tried to identify the best brains in different fields of life and profession. People who have written their names in gold at the State and Federal levels and even private sector.

"We have done this across party lines and to give Nigerlites hope that we have come for serious business."

He said the Council will mostly carryout advisory role that would ensure smooth transition.

Chairman Niger State Transition Council Dr. Suleiman Abdul Ndanusa appreciated the opportunity to serve and promised to work hard to ensure success.

He said though the task is huge, the Committee will be divided into sub-committees for effective service delivery.

The Deputy Governor, Ahmed Mohammed Ketso and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Nma Kolo who were part of many stakeholders at the event described the Transition Council as a robust one.

They expressed optimism that the Council will achieve the desired result thereby making the next administration to start on a sound footing.
