Niger Republic has solicited a collaboration with Kano State to strengthen its higher education sector.
The Country's Minister of Education and Scientific research, Dr. Mamadou Djibo visited the Governor on Thursday in Kano, adding that there is a need for greater cooperation through the strengthening of student exchange programs and other related issues on collaborations between tertiary institutions in Niger Republic and Kano State.
He praised the state government's efforts in properly equipping Kano State University Of Science and Technology, Wudil with up-to-date equipment.
"Now we want that students exchange program to be revived and sustained".
"Through the partnership, we will promote quality of education and research in both our tertiary institutions which will be of benefit to all of us he said ".
In his remarks, while responding on behalf of the Governor, his Deputy, Dr.Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna said Kano State is ready to collaborate with the Niger Republic in areas of interest and benefit, adding that a memorandum of understanding should be signed soon to get the program underway.
He then thanked the delegation from the Niger Republic for the visit and assured of cooperation.
Those in attendance during the occasion include the Commissioner of Higher Education, Dr. Mariya Mahmud Bunkure, and other Senior government officials.
