Nigeria At 63: Yobe Governor Calls For Unity

The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni has called for unity among Nigerians in commemoration of the country's 63rd Independence Day anniversary. 

The Governor felicitated Nigerians on the occasion while commending them for their resilience in ensuring a united Nigeria for 63 years.

"Every nation has its peculiar challenges, the commitment of Nigerians to a united and progressive Nigeria, has been strong and unshakeable.

"Everyone of us has a role to play in building a united, strong and prosperous nation.

"We should exploit our diversity to serve as a strength to our unity.

"We all have a duty and responsibility to make selfless contributions to strengthen the institution to promote participation in governance," the governor said.

This was contained in a statement by Mamman Mohammed, the governor's spokesperson, on Sunday.

The Governor called for support to the Federal and state governments to successfully execute their policies and programmes to improve the lives of the people.

The governor assured that his administration would continue to build infrastructure to facilitate the reconstruction, rehabilitation and recovery programme of his administration.

"Our administration would support our people to develop a strong and reliable irrigation programme to guarantee food sufficiency and security in the state.

"Government would also enhance empowerment programmes to provide employment opportunities to our people among others to improve the lives of the people," Buni added.
