Gabriel, who described his political journey so far as “challenging and exhausting” said, "Nigeria can’t move forward without restructuring or true federalism. The Local Government (LG) should be independent the way it should, so our people can enjoy good infrastructural development and more dividends of democracy.

"The state government has really overshadowed the LG and the LG are no longer independent. The governor can wake up one morning and decide to remove an LG chairman without any repercussions.”

On talks of the Yoruba nation, Gabriel posited that restructuring is better than division.

“Yoruba Nation?? I believe restructuring will stop this noise of secession everywhere. Sooner or later if we don’t want this country to split, we need restructuring.”
