Nigeria Football Federation president Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau has paid sympathy visits to some Super Eagles players who are currently injured at their various European clubs.

The European football season ends in May with the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic the fcus for Nigeria.

The three-time African champions began their qualification on a disappointing note with two draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe but are now set to reivigorate their World Cup aspirations with games against the South Africans and neighbours, Benin Republic.

According to a release by the Nigeria Football Federation on Wednesday and made available to Allnews.ng, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau was in Greece, Portgual and France to meet with the trio of PAOK central defender and Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong; Porto full back Zaidu Sanusi and Nantes winger Moses Simon.

The players are on the mend and are focused in helping Nigeria's World Cup quest albeit Moses, who suffered a fractured fibula during the first half of Nigeria's 1-0 loss to Mali in an international friendly in Morocco on March 26 may not be called up.

Zaidu also went under the knife after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament and the external lateral ligament of his left knee in the first half of  Porto's 2-0 win over Estrela da Amadora on February 17.

Ekong is the one out of the injured three with a chance to make the squad for the games against South Africa and Benin. 

A novelty game will be played on June 3 to launch his William Ekong Foundation.
