As part of activities billed for commemorating 2021 Democracy Day, the Presidency has revealed that it would be releasing a documentary titled "Nigeria: Consolidating Democracy and National Unity".

3. June 12 Protest: IGP Usman Baba Bans Officers From Using Live Ammunition During Protest, Riots

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Usman Baba, has directed officers to halt the use of live ammunition during protests and riots in Nigeria.

4. Onana's 1-Year Ban For Doping Reduced By CAS

Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper Andre Onana's year-long ban by European soccer's governing body UEFA for violating doping rules has been reduced to nine months after an appeal, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) said in a statement on Thursday.

Traces of the banned substance Furosemide were found in the Cameroon international's urine during an out-of-competition test on 30 October 2020, Ajax said in February, leading to a year-long ban for the player from all football activities. Read more here.

5. Buhari In Lagos: President Speaks On Advantage Of Rail Network To Nigeria’s Ports

President Muhammadu Buhari in Lagos says the new rail network initiative would make Nigeria’s ports the choice for import and export business, particularly for landlocked Niger Republic.

Buhari made the assertion at the flag off of the Commercial Operation of the Lagos – Ibadan Rail Line project held on Thursday at the Mobolaji Johnson Railway Station, Ebute Metta, Lagos. Read more here.

6. 10 States Yet To Pay Minimum Wage – Union

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) on Thursday said that 10 states had yet to implement the National Minimum Wage signed into law on April 18, 2019.

The association’s National President, Dr Tommy Okon, made the disclosure at a forum organised for the Labour Writers Association of Nigeria (LAWAN) on Thursday in Lagos. Read more here.

7. Ijede Road: Baba Suwe, Others Get Compensation For Demolished Properties

On Wednesday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State presented N500 million compensation to popular Nollywood actor, Babatunde Omidina, known as Baba Suwe, and other Ikorodu residents whose properties were demolished to pave way for the ongoing Igbogbo-Igbe Road Expansion Project.

Federal Government has declared Monday, June 14, as a public holiday to mark this year's Democracy Day.

9. Chinese Man Seen Assaulting Sierra Leonean In Viral Video Sacked By Company

The Chinese man seen attacking a Sierra Leonean in a viral video has been given the boot by his company, according to a new press release.

According to the press release, the conflict took place at a repair shop at Torkelilimme site and was an isolated case. The Asian was employed by the China Railway Seventh Group and has now been fired. Read more here.

10. IPOB Replies Buhari After President’s Message To Pro-Biafra Group Via Arise TV

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has played down the implications of President Muhammadu Buhari’s statement that Nigeria will continue to deploy military action against the outlawed group.

It would be recalled that President Buhari had during an interview with Arise TV on Thursday reiterated that security forces will be mobilised to “pursue” IPOB, a group led by diaspora-based Nnamdi Kanu, which is canvassing for the secession and sovereignty of Eastern Nigeria. Read more here.
