1. NSE Market Data: Investors Gain N3.88 bn As All-Share Index Edges Up

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) market closed with 6,130 deals on Wednesday significantly higher than Tuesday's 4,675 with trade volumes reaching a total of 356,461,102 units at market closing.

The value of trades recorded on Wednesday boosted to N4,193,302,105, edging up the All-Share Index by 0.02% to 38,774.03. Read more here.

2. Mount, Chilwell Slash Through Porto As Chelsea Win First Leg

England duo, Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell gave Chelsea a 2-0 win away over Porto in their Champions League quarterfinal first leg on Wednesday in Seville.

Mount got on an incisive pass from Jorginho then twisted and turn to get past Porto defender before firing the ball low and hard into the far corner to split open Porto in the 32nd minute and score his first Champions League goal. Read more here.

3. Granada vs Man United: I Don’t Think Marcus Rashford Will Play 90 Minutes - Solskjaer

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that striker Marcus Rashford will take part in the UEFA Europa League clash against Granada away on Thursday.

Solskjaer however said that the recuperating Englishman won't play the full 90 minutes. Read more here.

4. Yemi Osinbajo Tasks IGP Alkali Baba To Restore Dignity To Police Force

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has tasked the newly appointed 21st Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba to restore dignity to the force as soon as possible.

Speaking on Wednesday during the decoration of Baba with his new rank at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Osinbajo also urged Usman Alkali Baba to “stamp out the excesses and abuses and the culture of impunity” from the police force. Read more here.

5. Nigeria Move Up 4 Places On Latest FIFA Ranking To 32nd

International Federation of Association Football, FIFA on Thursday, April 7, published its latest rankings of National Teams with Nigeria moving from 36th to 32nd.

The Super Eagles were involved in two international matches during the period under review, both of which they won against the Republic of Benin and Lesotho. Read more here.

6. National Sports Festival: Delta, Edo Renew Rivalry Of Supremacy

The old rivalry  between  Edo and Delta state is being  rekindled  at the ongoing  Edo 2020 National sports  Festival as the two teams are locked in a battle Royale for supremacy on the Medals table.

7. Netflix Acquires Kanye West Documentary

A documentary on the life and career of rapper Kanye West with over two decades of footage has been acquired by Netflix.

The report comes from Billboard and different sources peg the amount of acquisition at $30 million, an amount that has been refuted by someone familiar with the matter who spoke to Variety. Read more here.

8. FACT CHECK: Did Minister Farouq Tweet About N-Power Batches A And B Beneficiaries Qualified For Exit Packages On Monday 5th Of April 2021?

A post on a Facebook group, N-power Lagos, had on Tuesday claimed that Sadiya Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development of Nigeria “revealed those set of Batch A and B beneficiaries who are qualified for the exit packages”.

The “Breaking” post ascribed the purported Farouq revelation to a “statement via the Twitter handle on Monday 5th April, 2021”. Read more here.

9. 2023: Timi Frank Berates Malami Over Comments On Atiku’s Nationality

Former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has berated the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami over his comment that former vice president Atiku Abubakar is not eligible to contest for the presidential election in 2023.  

AllNews reported earlier that Malami told a Federal High Court in Abuja that Atiku is not a Nigerian citizen by birth, and therefore is not eligible to run for the presidency position in Nigeria. Read more here.

10. Google’s Android Advertising Tool Faces Complaint In France

Privacy activist Max Schrems has accused Google’s Android advertising tool of violating European Union rules by failing to get users’ consent in France.

Noyb, a group set up by Schrems, said in a statement on Wednesday that Google’s software created an advertising identifier on people’s phones without their knowledge. The complaint was filed with France’s data protection watchdog CNIL. Read more here.
