1. LIFE: Meet Evangelist Ismail Badmus, Popularly Known As Baba 'Lori Iro'

If you followed the Lori Iro Trend in February, then you already know Evangelist Ismail Badmus. He is the 72-year-old who inspired the song and slang that broke the internet at the time. The chorus of his evangelism song, “Lori Iro” became a hashtag for flagging falsehood and it trended for days on Twitter and other social media platforms.

Before the year 2014, Ismail Badmus could not have imagined himself preaching the gospel on the street, even composing a song in the process. He was a Muslim. He was born into a Muslim family with over 100 siblings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He was converted to Christianity later in 2014. Read more here.

2. Police Confirm Attack On Anambra Zonal Headquarters

The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed that hoodlums in the early hours of Monday, April 19, 2021, attacked its Zonal Headquarters in Ukpo rea of the state.

Confirming the incident via a press statement made available to AllNews Nigeria, DSP Nkeiruka Nwode, Zonal Public Relations Officer said the attackers were instantly repelled, and some of their arms seized. Read more here.

Nigerian filmmaker Niyi Akinmolayan has hailed the Netflix movie New Gods: Nezha Reborn, rating it miles ahead of Disney's Raya and the Last Dragon.

New Gods: Nezha Reborn premiered on Netflix on April 12, 2021, and it centers on the mythology of the titular Chinese god who has to face new foes when he is reincarnated in the form of a young bike racer. Read more here.

5. Facebook Plans To Announce Social Audio Products

Facebook Inc. is set to launch a number of new social audio products to meet the rising demand for audio-based social media products amid the pandemic aided by the Swedish media streaming company Spotify, as well as including its own application to rival the popular app Clubhouse. 

The plan came after Clubhouse ended a Series C funding round led by California-based venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, valued the start-up at about $4 billion, quadruple the estimate from January, according to Bloomberg. Read more here.

6. Repentant Militants, Kidnappers Become Pastors After Rehabilitation

No fewer than eight repentant Niger Delta militants and kidnappers undergoing rehabilitation in the Omega Power Ministries (OPM) rehabilitation center are now pastors in the church, General Overseer, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, has said.

7. UTME 2021: Remita Commences Sale Of e-PINs To JAMB Candidates

Remita, a payment platform, has commenced the sale of Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) ePINs to candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions.

This follows a recent announcement by the examination body, the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB), of the sale of ePINs for UTME and Direct Entry (DE) registrations till May 15, 2021. Read more here.

8. Tottenham: Jose Mourinho's Former Assistant At Chelsea Emerges One Of Leading Candidates To Replace Sacked Portuguese Tactician

One of the leading candidates for the vacancy at Tottenham Hotspur following Monday's sack of Jose Mourinho is Brendan Rodgers - according to the bookies.

The Leicester City manager worked as Mourinho's assistant during his first spell in charge at Chelsea. Rodgers spent a large amount of time travelling around Spain studying different coaching methods, and was eventually invited by manager Mourinho to leave his role of academy director at Reading and join the Chelsea Academy as their head youth coach in 2004 after a recommendation by Mourinho's assistant. 9. IPOB Reacts To Made-up Miyetti Allah Allegation, Brags About Creating ESN In Northern Nigeria

The banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) says its vigilante group, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), will be launched in the northern part of Nigeria soon.

This is as the pro-Biafra organization vowed that it would resist the rumoured deployment of 5,000 vigilantes to the South-East region by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN). Read more here.

Activist, Sunday Adeniyi Adeyemo, widely known as 'Sunday Igboho' has been fingered as the man behind a squad, made up of thugs who intimidate land owners of Soka Area of Ibadan, Oyo State, South-West Nigeria.

Before now, Igboho has been accused of land grabbing, using armed thugs against original owners of such lands. But he has also in the past defended himself against the allegations on several occasions, saying he only fights on land matters “when he is invited to do so”. Read more here.
