Nigeria Receives 100 Tourism Scholarships From UNWTO

Nigeria has been awarded 100 Tourism Online Academy Scholarships by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) for citizens interested in basic tourism training.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Special Assistant to the President (Media), Office of the Minister of Information and Culture, Segun Adeyemi, on Wednesday.

According to Adeyemi, the Secretary-General, UNWTO, Zurab Pololikashvili presented the offer to the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, during a dinner hosted by the organisation to honour the Nigerian Minister and his delegate in Madrid on Tuesday.

”The World Tourism Organization recognizes the efforts of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and its Minister of Information and Culture.

"Honourable Minister Lai Mohammed, to empower youth and boost quality education in tourism by granting 100 UNWTO Tourism Online Academy Scholarships,” Pololikashvili said.

The Secretary-General said those who would complete the training would be awarded a certificate in introduction to Tourism.

Minister Lai Mohammed, responding to the award, said the criteria for receiving the scholarship would be disclosed soon.

The world tourism organisation in partnership with the IE University in Madrid, Spain, established the UNTWO Tourism Online Academy.
