Nigerian army arrests terrorists, recovers arms, ammunition

The troops of the 6 Brigade have conducted separate operations around the Taraba area captured seven suspected terrorists and discovered a stockpile of weapons, which is a huge boost to the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the area.

After receiving reliable information that suspected bandits were attacking a Fulani hamlet in Katlong Village, Karim Lamido Local Government Area, on August 7, 2024, troops of 6 Brigade were sent to Kambari.

They quickly engaged the bandits, who fled in disarray after exchanging heavy fire with the troops.

Yusuf Musa, a suspected bandit, was apprehended carrying an AK-47 gun and twenty rounds of special 7.62mm ammunition. In addition, 118 cows were found and returned to their proper owners.

Similarly, on August 6, 2024, while travelling to the Mashingi Village market in the Karim Lamido Local Government Area to buy food, troops received reliable intelligence about suspected bandits.

After a well-planned standoff, four suspected bandits—Yusuf Hassan, Mohammed Mamman, Haruna Illa, and Hammadu Shaibu—were apprehended by troops. A single motorcycle, four cell phones, and fifty-seven thousand naira (#57,000) are among the items that were found on them.

In a related development, on August 9, 2024, troops quickly mobilized to the general area of Magami in Jalingo Local Government Area in response to a tip-off from a credible source regarding suspects gathering and preparing large numbers of machetes suspected to be distributed to hoodlums for criminal activities with the plan to cause unrest within the State.

Two suspects, identified as Umar Zubair and Isah Abdulahi, were arrested with 436 machetes. Four filling machines, one cell phone, and numerous other manufacturing tools are among the other goods that were found.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, the commander of the 6 Brigade, praised the soldiers for their commitment and promptness in securing the security of Taraba State's citizens.

He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army's commitment to upholding national security and peace, and he advised people to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.

General Uwa underlined that to completely remove all criminal activity within Taraba State and its surroundings, the Nigerian Army will keep collaborating closely with other security agencies and local authorities.

He gave the people assurances that the suspects who had been apprehended would be turned over to the proper authorities for additional examination and legal action.

The decent people of Taraba State have been a key source of information that the Nigerian Army is grateful for since it has helped make these operations successful. 6 Brigade's objective to safeguard lives and provide a safe environment for all citizens will not waver.
