Nigerian military organising attacks against Igbos in Nigeria — IPOB

Nigerian military organising attacks against Igbos in Nigeri

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has alleged that the Nigerian military is organising onslaughts against Igbos around the country.

IPOB said that the military burned down numerous houses in Uli, Ihiala, Anambra State, under the premise of seeking criminals, and that the media failed to mention it.

The organisation, through its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, issued a statement condemning the military's burning and destruction of houses and property in Umulolo, Okigwe LGA, Imo State.

IPOB questioned what the Igbos had done to the Nigerian government to deserve such punishment from the military.

Powerful questioned whether the military was also burning down innocent people's homes in other regions of the country.

“As of Sunday, January 28, 2024, the military invaded the peaceful community of Uli in Ihiala LGA of Anambra State and burnt down many homes and other property of Igbo indigenes and the media refused to report it.

“The question is, what has Ndigbo done to the Nigerian government and her murderous security forces to warrant consistent terrorism, attacks and humiliation at the slightest provocations?

“Does the Nigerian military burn down the houses of innocent people in other parts of Nigeria? Do they destroy property in Northern Nigeria when going after the terrorists and bandits ravaging the North?

“Why is the Nigerian government forcing Biafrans to belong to the same country that their security agencies are tormenting and terrorizing indiscriminately?”

IPOB stated that southeastern Nigeria has been subjected to numerous terrorist attacks resulting in mass murders, property destruction, and the forced disappearance of many youths by Nigerian security forces and their foot soldiers, Fulani herdsmen and that the attacks have worsened under the APC government of Muhammadu Buhari and now Bola Tinubu.
