2. COVID-19: Lawan Calls On NigeriansTo Produce Vaccine

Following calls for a locally produced COVID-19 vaccine by Nigerians, Senate President Ahmad Lawan has on Wednesday called for concerted efforts and supports towards developing the vaccine.

4. NIN: Court Bars FG From Blocking SIM Cards On Deadline Date

Lagos State Federal High Court on Wednesday barred the Federal Government from blocking SIM cards that are not yet linked to National Identity Numbers (NIN) next month.

It could be recalled that the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy had, through the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), asked operators to block all SIM cards not linked to NIN by April 6, 2021. Read more here.

Italian carmaker Fiat has partnered with Google to launch special edition models of its 500 range, complete with fully integrated Google Assistant technology.

The 'Fiat 500 Family Hey Google' range encompasses the 500 city car, 500X crossover, and 500L MPV, all of which come with special design elements including Google colours and the company's badges on the wheel arches and seats, as well as the voice technology and a telematics box. Read more here.

7. 10 Bandits Nabbed As Police Free Five Kidnapped Persons In Kaduna

Five kidnapped persons have been rescued as police in Kaduna State arrested suspected bandits in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of the state.

According to spokesperson for the police in the state, Mohammed Jalige, through intelligence information, the police operatives were able to intercept the bandits numbering about ten at Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road, where they were attempting to kidnap travelers. Read more here.

8. Nigerian Army Reacts to Online Newspaper Report of North Dominating Force Recruitment List and South-East Having Fewest Candidates

The Nigerian Army has refuted media reports that the list of successful candidates for the Short Service Combatant Course 47/2021 has only 13% (49) of candidates from the South-East out of the total number of 361 candidates.

In a Statement on Wednesday by Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, the Director Army Public Relations, the army bemoaned that it is “uncharitable and blatantly divisive for any media organisation to whip up sentiments from such a straight forward exercise” it conducted. Read more here.

9. UTME 2021: What JAMB Registrar Told Banks Ahead of Sale of ePINs

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned commercial banks not to sell the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) 2021 forms/documents (ePIN) above N3,500.

Candidates are expected to pay financial institutions N3,500 for ePIN and N500 for the books they will use for the examination, totaling N4,000. Read more here.

10. #EndSARS: US Says No Proof Soldiers Killed Civilians At Lekki Toll Gate

The United States government has stated that it disputes claims that Nigerian civilians were gunned down by soldiers at the Lekki Toll Gate during the #EndSARS protests in October 2020.
