1. Zamfara: Presidency Fingers Choppers As Means Of Arms Supply To Bandits

The presidency has expressed its suspicion of helicopters being used to supply arms to bandits in Zamfara following the no-fly order it recently gave in the area.

Speaking to Daily Trust on Wednesday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said that the recent ban on flights in Zamfara state was to improve the security situation in the state. Read more here.

2. Benue News: FG Ought To Give Bandits Same Treatment As ESN, IPOB — Governor Ortom

The Governor Benue State, Samuel Ortom has said it is injustice for the Federal Government to clampdown on the paramilitary wing of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra's (IPOB) Eastern Security Network (ESN) and leave bandits to freely carry AK47 to threaten the lives of people in the country.

Governor Ortom who stated this in an exclusive interview with BBC on Wednesday said he is aware that the group is illegal and he is not in support of their activities but if the government handles the Fulani Herdsmen the way he handles IPOB and ESN the country would have solved its security challenges long ago.  Read more here.

3. NYSC Urges Employers To Absorb Corps Members After Service Year

The National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) has appealed to employers of labor to give full employment to corps members, who proved their mettle, after the service year.

5. Ogun Gets New Gas Pipeline

A new 18-kilometre gas pipeline with a capacity of 150 million standard cubic feet per day of gas (mmscfd) that runs from Ibefun to Rite Foods Ltd’s large-scale factory in Ososa was launched in Ogun State on Wednesday.

The pipeline was built by Axxela Ltd through its subsidiary, Transit Gas Nigeria Ltd (TGNL) in partnership with the Nigerian Gas Marketing Company Ltd (NGMC). Read more here.

Olympique Lyonnais moved to the top of the Ligue 1 standings when Houssem Aouar's second-half goal earned them a 1-0 home win over Stade Rennais on Wednesday.

8. IPOB: Uwazuruike Begs South-East Governors To Takeover ESN From Kanu

Leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Ralph Uwazuruike has called on the South-East Governors to take over the Eastern Security Network (ESN) sailed by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and turn it into a responsible vigilance group for the zone. 

Uwazuruike who made this call at a press conference in Owerri on Tuesday said the zone needed a security establishment to tackle its internal security challenges, just like other zones. Raed more here.

9. Those Behind My Recall Are Political Undertakers – Okorocha

Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District and former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has criticized those behind the move for his recall from the state, describing them as ‘political undertakers’ and ‘adult delinquents.’

A political group in Orlu senatorial district of Imo State, Orlu Political Consultative Assembly (OPOCA) had been moving to recall the senator, accusing the former governor of committing several unpardonable offences which require sanctions and recall. Read more here.

10. NSE Index: Seplat Tops Gainers List With Huge Margin

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) market closed with 4,714.00 deals on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, higher than the 4,470.00  deals on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. The volume reached 244,342,845.00 units at the close of the market on Wednesday higher than the 222,573,570.00 units it closed with on Tuesday.

The value of trades recorded on Wednesday was N4,128,027,466.04 with the All-Share Index of 39,522.06 a decrease of -0.44% (-175.56) over Tuesday's value of 39,697.62. Read more here.
