1. Court Fixes New Date For Nnamdi Kanu's Trial

The Federal High Court Abuja has fixed January 27, 2021, as the new date for continuation of the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Recall the Nnamdi Kanu’s trial in absentia was fixed for hearing today (Thursday) but both Kanu and his counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor were absent in court. Read more here.

2. Court Resumes Appeal Hearing Of Singer Sentenced To Death For Blasphemy

The hearing of an appeal against the death sentence passed on Sheriff Yahaya, 30, a popular entertainer by Kano Shari’a court has begun.

The appeal filed by a Lagos-based human rights lawyer, Kola Alapini, against the Kano state government and Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Kano State, which is challenging the lower court judgment is before the Chief Judge of Kano state, Justice Nuraddeen Sagir Umar. Read more here.

3. CBN Loot: Gowon Addresses UK Parliamentarian Accusation

Former Military Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, has reacted to the allegation of looting the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) during his military regime. Gowon had been accused by UK parliamentarian, Tom Tugendhat, of illegally carting away money from CBN.

In a bid to restore sanity to the Super Eagles and other national team cadres and curb the activities of illegal scouts, the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has given a clear mandate to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to rid the national team of agents and hangers-on.

5. N500M: Wife Of Abuja Newspaper Vendor Killed By Gbajabiamila's Aide Disowns Husband's Family

Josephine Okereke, Wife of newspaper vendor, who was shot by a security aide attached to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has disowned her husband’s family.

Information gathered has it that the newspaper vendor's wife in a press conference in Abuja earlier today disowned them for demanding the sum of N500m as compensation and more without her approval. Read more here.

6. Biafra Political Activist, Uche Mefor Spits Fire Amid IPOB Leadership Crisis

Estranged Deputy-Leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Uche Okafor-Mefor on Thursday warned that when he defends himself against "the wicked propagation of lies", "be sure that a lot will come out", AllNews reports.
