1. Biafra: 'Nigerian Situation Already Forcing Us To Act Like Fulani', Says Youths

The Biafra Nations Youth League, (BNYL) has warned that "the Biafra struggle might be worse than that of Southern Cameroon" if Nigerian security forces continue to be rigid on them.

Addressing newsmen in Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State recently, Ebuta Takon Akor, the National Deputy Leader of BNYL and Director of Operations, Biafra Broadcasting Service (BBS), also demanded the release of 67 members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who were reportedly arrested by the Police not long ago. 2. NBA Chose To 'Endorse A One-Sided Narrative' - El-Rufai

The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has said that the rescindment of his invitation to speak at the Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) endorses a one-sided narrative.

The governor's statement was issued through his spokesperson, Muyiwa Adekeye, stating that the NBA one less speaking engagement was nothing the governor was bothered about. Read more here.

3. Nigeria To Soon Begin Trials On COVID-19 Drugs

Nigeria will commence clinical trials on COVID-19 drugs in 13 states across the country, stated the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 on Thursday.

4. Evacuation: 186 Nigerians In South Africa Evacuated

As part of the ongoing evacuation exercise by the Federal Government, an additional 186 Nigerians stranded in South Africa due to the coronavirus have departed the country, bound for Nigeria.

This was disclosed by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), in a tweet, stating that the evacuees will depart OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa via Air Peace at 1740HRS. Read more here.

5. FG Retaliates, Bars Flights From EU

In a counter-move, the Federal Government has barred flights from countries that have closed their airspace to Nigeria, with countries in the EU being a focal point.

The Federal Government has said that flights from countries in the EU will not be allowed into the country, following the exclusion of Nigeria from the list of countries allowed to fly into Europe. Read more here.

6. EFCC To NUPENG: Enlighten Your Members on Dangers of Oil Theft

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), has charged the Petroleum Tanker Drivers’ branch of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, (NUPENG), Port Harcourt Zone, to educate its members on the dangers of getting involved in illegal oil bunkering.

This charge was made on Thursday,  August 20, 2020, by the Port Harcourt zonal head of the EFCC,  Abdulkarim Chukkol,  while receiving executive members of the union in his office.  He noted that the Commission had severally arrested Truck drivers for alleged smuggling and diversion of petroleum products. 7. AfDB Ban Four Nigerian Companies Over Fraudulent Activities Involving Financial Projects

Four Nigerian companies have been added to the list of companies banned from accessing financial projects from the African Development Bank (AfDB). The companies were barred for fraudulently obtaining AfDB's financial projects after an investigation into their application process.

The barred companies are Sangtech International Services Limited, Sangar & Associates (Nigeria) Limited, Mashad Integrated and Investment Co. Limited, and Medniza Global Merchants Limited. They were involved in fraudulent activities involving the Zaria Water Supply Expansion and Sanitation project in Nigeria. Read more here.

8. Edo Decides 2020: Court Approves Substituted Service On Ize-Iyamu, Oshiomhole, Others

The Abuja Federal High Court has approved a substituted service in the legal action seeking an order to disqualify Osagie Ize-Iyamu as the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the forthcoming governorship election in Edo state.

Issued by Justice Taiwo, the order for substituted mean directed that the former Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, a former acting Chairman of the party, Victor Giadom, Hilliard Eta, and Ize-Iyamu, be served the suit through the pasting of the court documents at the entrance gate of the party’s national secretariat in Abuja. 10. N-Power July Stipends Unresolved

Batch B beneficiaries of the Nigerian government's N-Power initiative have not been paid their July stipends.

Although exited, the beneficiaries are entitled to their N30, 000 (78.74036 USDollars) monthly stipends as they were officially relieved of their duty on July 31st, 2020. Read more here.
