Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has challenged Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, to a public debate over the salary of Nigerian lawmakers. Ezekwesili, has overtime, criticised lawmakers' allowances, but the legislature labelled her criticism as blackmail against lawmakers.
In the course of the week, the Senate President said any Nigerian that doesn't like the way their representatives in the chamber are representing them should vote such lawmaker out in the next election. Ibrahim Taiwo, the Commander of 81 division of the Nigerian Army has revealed that the army took live ammunition to Lekki tollgate on the night of the 20th of October 2020.
AllNews reports that making this revelation on Saturday while appearing before the Lagos judicial panel of inquiry set up to probe the incident, Taiwo explained that the army officers with the live ammunition were meant to protect the army team from hoodlums. Read more here.

Nigeria has officially entered into another recession three years after exiting the 2016 economic downturn. The country's Gross Domestic Product contracted twice in two consecutive quarters - Q2 and Q3 - to push the economy into its worse recession.
According to a report obtained from Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the Real GDP contracted for second consecutive quarter by -3.62% in Q3 (July to September) this year, having contracted by -6.10% in Q2 (April to June) 2020. Read more here.
