4. Lagos New Tax For Audio, Visual Contents More Like Extortion

Some weeks back, the  Lagos State Government announced a 5% tax for entertainment companies and other creatives involved in content production.

The Bayelsa State governorship election petition tribunal on Saturday affirmed Senator Duoye Diri as Bayelsa State Governor.

The tribunal dismissed Woniwei of the Alliance for Democracy petition against Senator Duoye Diri in the 2019 Bayelsa governorship election petition against the election victory of Diri for lack of merit. Read more here.

The Ministers of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed will headline the 7th Lagos Public Relations Stakeholders Conference scheduled to hold August 27, 2020.

8. Lagos APC Chieftain, Lanre Razak, Is Dead

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state, Lanre Razak is dead.

Razak who died at age 72 after a brief illness, was a member of the party's Governor’s Advisory Council, and the Balogun of Epe Land. Read more here.

9. Lagos State Reviews Car-Hailing Regulation Again, Demand New Charges From Drivers

The Lagos State Government has reviewed the car-hailing regulation made after criticism trailed the decision. AllNews had reported that the state government made a policy to mandate car-hailing companies to pay for licence fee and also directed the drivers to pay 10% of every trip.

But after a meeting between the state governor, Babatunde Sanwo-Olu, National President of Professional E-hailing Drivers and Private Owners Association (PEDPA), Idris Sonuga, as well as representatives of Bolt, Uber and BMP Car, the state government reviewed the license fees downward. 10. Lasaco Assurance Releases 2019 Full Year Report

Lasaco Assurance Plc has released its financial statement for the full year 2019. The company's gross premium written and gross premium income increased as seen by AllNews in the financial statement. Lasaco Plc reported that it recorded N9.3 billion in gross premium writen in 2019, surpassing N9 billion of 2018 full year.

The company also recorded N9.7 billion for gross premium income in 2019, surpassing the N8 billion it reported in the corresponding period of 2018. Lasaco Plc disclosed that the company's Net underwriting income for 2019 was N6.7 billion, more than the N5.2 billion it recorded in 2018. Read more here.
