1. Okonjo-Iweala Elected WTO Director-General, Makes Global History

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been elected as the Director-General (DG) of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) following a stiff contest from South Korea's Yoo Myung-hee, and after the elimination of five other candidates in different stages.

Okonjo-Iweala's emergence as WTO Director-General makes her the first African to head the position, as well as the first woman to ever occupy the Director-General office of WTO since it was established in 1995. Read more here.

2. #EndSARS: External Forces Trying To Destabilize Nigeria With #ENDSARS - Ganduje

The executive Governor of Kano State Abdullahi Ganduje has said that external forces are trying to use the #EndSARS protest to destabilize Nigeria.

Ganduje who spoke while hosting reporters on Tuesday said that the #ENDSARS protest was initially about SARS before it was hijacked by enemies of Nigeria to cause a breakdown in the country. Read more here.

3. Benue: Ortom Inaugurates Steering Cmte To Address Concerns Of Youths

A steering committee to plan and execute a youth summit that will chart the roadmap to address the concerns of young persons has been inaugurated by the Benue State Government.

The State Governor, Samuel Loraer Ortom, who inaugurated the committee on Wednesday in Makurdi, the state capital, urged its chairman [Dave Ogbole] and members to uphold equity, fairness, and all-inclusiveness in the state assignment. Read more here.

4. 'Don't Believe The Military, It Has A History Of Lies' - Falana

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, said that the Nigerian Army should not be believed, as it "has a history full of lies".

5. Edo Prison Break: 10 Escapee Inmates Re-arrested, See How

The Edo State Police Command have re-arrested ten escapee inmates of Benin Medium Correctional Centre and Oko Medium Correctional Centre, in Benin.

Six of the escapees were re-arrested for alleged armed robbery, few days after escaping from the prison, while one was arrested for attempting to kill the prosecution witnesses who earlier testified against him in Court. Read more here.

6. Biafra: IPOB's Nnamdi Kanu Lays Heavy Curse On Gov. Wike

Biafra political activist and leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has made a solemn utterance intended to invoke a supernatural power to inflict harm, saying 'the same way Nigerian authority killed Ken Saro-Wiwa, the late environmental activist, so shall they do to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

7. Ex-Nigerian Minister Says #EndSARS Protesters Might Hit Streets In Two Weeks, See Reasons

Former Minister of External Affairs, Bolaji Akinyemi, has revealed that the #EndSARS protesters might hit the streets again if the judicial panel set-up by different state governors across the country does not genuinely address the demands of the youths.

Expressing this worry during an interview with Arise TV on Wednesday, Akinyemi asked the government to give the youths the impression that the panel was not set up to buy time. Read more here.

8. Lekki Shooting: Nigerian Authorities Must Stop Attempts To Cover Lekki Massacre- Amnesty International

Amnesty International has warned Nigerian authorities to desist from attempts to cover up the Lekki toll gate massacre, as it released a new timeline investigating the atrocity one week later.

The timeline collates photographs and video footage to confirm that the Nigerian Army vehicles left Bonny Camp, a military base, approximately a seven-minute drive from the toll gate, at 6:29 pm local time on 20 October. Read more here.

9. 'IPOB Is A Terrorist Group Denounced Even in South-East' - Wike

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has signed an Executive Order that effectively proscribes the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Rivers, describing the group as a terrorist group.

Wike said that the state is against everything the group stands for, declaring this in a broadcast Wednesday. Read more here.

10. 'We Are Determined To Resolve ASUU Matter' - Gbajabiamila

The House of Representatives' Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, has expressed the determination of the House to "resolve" the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) "matter".

He said this Wednesday in a meeting with a group of young lawmakers under the umbrella of the Young Parliamentarians Forum of the National Assembly (NASS). Read more here.
