1. COVID-19: Lagos, Ogun, Others Plan Tough Enforcement As New Cases Surge

Due to the constant escalation of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in some part of the country, some state governments have renewed enforcement protocol in order to curb the spread in their states. 

AllNews learned that Lagos, Anambra, Ogun, and Kaduna states on Sunday said from Monday (today),  they would step up enforcement of COVID-19 preventive measures such as wearing of face masks, social distancing in vehicles, and hand washing. Read more here.

2. Oyo: Makinde Inaugurates State's Anti-corruption Agency

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Tuesday inaugurated the state's anti-corruption commission, declaring that his administration's zero tolerance for corruption remains unshakable.

Renowned Nigerian Pastor, Primate Elijah Ayodele has warned former Lagos State Governor and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu against contesting at the 2023 Presidential election.

Issuing this warning during a press conference on Tuesday, the pastor said that the former governor of Lagos will be disgraced if he tried to contest at the 2023 presidential election. Read more here.

A former Minister of Aviation in Nigeria, Femi Fani-Kayode has compared the politics of Northern Nigeria with that of the South, saying "until Southern leaders stand together as one, the south will continue to lose to the North in the power configuration in Nigeria".

9. NSE Index: Dangote Cement Top Gainers List, CAP Among Losers

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) market closed with 4,948 deals on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, lower than the 5,258 deals it closed with on Monday, December 21, 2020. The volume reached 442,22 million units at the close of the market on Tuesday, higher than the 427,05 million units it closed with on Monday.

The value of trades recorded on Tuesday was NGN10,287 billion, higher than the NGN3,309 billion of Monday. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the All-Share Index reached 37,893.61 index points, higher than the 37,443.40 All-Share Index of Monday. Read more here.

President Muhammadu Buhari has left to God the effective supervision of Nigeria's border with the Niger Republic.
