Nigerian singer Seun Kuti has said that marauding bandits in the country are being armed by politicians.
The son of the late Afrobeat icon Fela Kuti made the claim in a video he posted online on Wednesday, adding the way to end banditry was for politicians to write down the names of those they have given guns to so they could be retrieved.
He called the bandits "political thugs" and predicted that by 2023, there would be no more cases of kidnappings as those involved would have been employed in their usual political thuggery.

Seun's words, "Yeah, and na politicians dey give all the bandits guns for Nigeria. Let's not act like we don't know. If we want to end this banditry, all politicians should write down the list of people that they have given guns to in Nigeria so that we can go and collect it from the ... cos these are political thugs.
"In the negotiation for 2023 now there will be no more kidnapping. Why? Because they will now be employed in their usual political thuggery.
"So, every four years they collect from their masters. When they are no longer employed, they have now given them free rein to be collecting from all Nigerian people."
