Nigerian soldiers kill five Boko Haram terrorists in Sambisa

Five Boko Haram terrorists were killed in Sambisa Forest in Borno State by forces from 7 Division and Sector 1, Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with Hybrid Force and the CJTF.

The feat was accomplished on Monday, August 12, 2024, while conducting a battle patrol to terrorist enclaves in Kashomiri, Sharori, Kalmari, and Mantari villages in the Geizuwa terror cluster, Bama LGA, Borno State.

The operation resulted in the neutralization of five terrorists, while others fled.

The troops recovered three Dane firearms and six motorcycles, which are currently being held for further action.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army has inaugurated a new Theatre Training School and upgraded an existing facility in Maiduguri, Borno State, as part of its efforts to enhance combat effectiveness in the fight against Boko Haram.

Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, OPHK, Maj-Gen Waidi Shuaibu, announced this at the graduation ceremony of the newly commissioned school in Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, on Saturday.

Maj-Gen Shuaibu emphasized the importance of adaptability and rapid training to address evolving security threats. “Our troops must be able to adapt quickly and train others to do the same. We cannot afford to be caught off guard by these terrorists,” he stated.

He explained that the new training facilities are designed to equip Nigerian troops with the skills and knowledge needed to combat Boko Haram, bandits, and other security challenges. The training will also emphasize human rights and rules of engagement to ensure that the troops are both effective and responsible.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by top military officials who praised Maj-Gen Shuaibu’s leadership in strengthening the army’s training capabilities. This development marks a significant advancement in the Nigerian Army’s mission to become a world-class fighting force.

The upgraded facilities provide a modern learning environment, complete with state-of-the-art equipment and experienced instructors. The army is sending a clear message to the terrorists: "We are coming for you, and we will prevail."

Having battled Boko Haram insurgents for over a decade, the Nigerian Army sees these new training facilities as a crucial boost to its ongoing efforts. Although the army has made significant progress in recent months, the insurgents continue to pose a serious threat.

These new facilities are part of a broader initiative to enhance the army’s capabilities and address the root causes of the insurgency.

The Nigerian government has committed to addressing the social and economic issues that have driven many young people to join Boko Haram.

As the army continues its fight against Boko Haram, the new training facilities will play a critical role in ensuring that troops are well-prepared for success. The future of Nigeria is at stake, and the army is determined to secure victory.
