Nigerian Sprinter Grace Nwokocha Suspended For Doping

Nigerian Sprinter Nzubechi Grace Nwokocha has been provisionally suspended for the use of a banned substance, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced on Saturday.

Nwokocha represented Nigeria at the Commonwealth Games, where she won gold in the 4x100m relay.

The 21-year-old ran the anchor leg of the category to help Nigeria win gold ahead of Jamaica and England.

The Athletics Integrity Unit announced her suspension on Twitter on Saturday.

“The AIU has provisionally suspended Nigerian runner, Nzubechi Grace Nwokocha, for the Presence/Use of Prohibited Substances (Ostarine & Ligandrol) (Article 2.1 and Article 2.2),”

Ostarine and Ligandrol are regarded as anabolic agents prohibited by World Anti-Doping Agency.

The suspension means Nwokocha will be unable to participate in any competition until a final decision is reached at a hearing conducted under WADA rules.

Nwokocha is a promising athlete, she qualified for the Tokyo Olympics and also entered 100m and 200m at the World Athletics Championship in Eugene.
