Nigerian Stock Exchange: Top Five List Of Gainers, Losers

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) market closed with 5,947 deals on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, higher than the 5,283 deals it closed with on Tuesday, October 27, 2020. The volume reached 375,24 million units at the close of the market on Wednesday, lower than the 385.59 million units it closed with on Tuesday.

The value of trades recorded on Wednesday was NGN4,634 billion, higher than the NGN2,914 billion of Tuesday. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the All-Share Index reached 29,437.60 index points, lower than the 28,980.29 All-Share Index of Tuesday.

The stock market also ended with a NGN15,386 trillion equity capitalisation on Wednesday, higher than the NGN15,147 trillion recorded on Tuesday.

Top Five Gainers

Nestle led the top gainers' chart after its stock price gained NGN117.5 kobo to close trading at NGN1292.5 kobo per share after opening today's trading with NGN1175 per share, according to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) market data seen by AllNews.

Total was second on the table, as its stock price gained NGN6.7 kobo to close the market with NGN118.9 kobo per share, having started trading today with NGN112.2 kobo per share.

Dangote Cement was the third top gainer as its stock price closed the market with a NGN3.3 kobo gain to move from the opening price of NGN152 per share to NGN155.3 kobo per share.

Conoil follows, closing the market with a gain of NGN1.7 kobo to end trading with NGN19.05 per share from the opening share price of NGN17.35 kobo per share.

Flour Mill was last on the top five gainers' table after its share price gained NGN1.7 kobo per share to close trading at NGN28.2 kobo per share, having opened trading at NGN26.5 kobo.

Top Five Losers

On the top of the losers' list is Cutix, which had begun trading earlier today at NGN1.9 per share, only to drop in price by NGN-0.13% to close at NGN1.77 kobo per share at the end of trading today.

African Prudential was second on the chart after closing at NGN5.85 kobo per share from its opening trade price of NGN5.9 kobo per share; this represents a drop of -0.85%.

Royal Exchange share price fell by -8.00% as its share price closed trading at NGN0.23 kobo per share, lower than the NGN0.25 kobo per share it opened with.

Honeywell Flour also recorded a drop in its share price as it declined by -1.03% to close trading at NGN0.96 kobo per share, below the NGN0.97 kobo per share it opened with.

May & Baker completed the top five losers chart after it closed trading with NGN3.05 per share, declining by -0.33% from the NGN3.06 per share it opened trading with.

Top Five Trades

AllNews learnt that the top trades in the stock market for today were Zenith Bank, which traded a volume of over 46.66 million units worth NGN1.003 billion. Fidelity Bank was the second most traded stock today with over 33.46 million units worth over NGN76.05 million. Ecobank was next on the list, trading 27.53 million units worth NGN157.01 million.

Access Bank was the fourth on the most traded stock list, closing the market with over 26.51 million units traded at a cost of over NGN205.98 million, while BUA Cement completed the top five list with over 25.01 million units traded today, worth NGN1.03 billion.
