Denmark began their campaign in Group B at the 2024 European U-17 Championship with a 2-0 win over Wales at the Dasaki Stadium, Achna on Monday.

Nigeria-eligible youngster Chido Obi-Martin who struts his talents for the youth side of Arsenal scored in stoppage time to break the deadlock as the Welsh side's resistance was broken after a cagey first 45 minutes.

The Arsenal striker broke Folarin Balogun's record for the most goals scored by an Arsenal player in a single season in the U18 Premier League.

Sofus Johannesen scored the second goal for the Danes in the second half.

Obi Martins is aiming to become the third player of Nigerian descent to win the Golden Boot at the European U17 Championship, after Victor Moses and Dominic Solanke who were the top scorers of the tournament in 2007 and 2014 respectively.
