Nigerian Table Tennis Star Joins German Side

Nigerian table tennis player, Aruna Quadri has signed with TTC RhönSprudel Maberzell Fulda, a top club in the German Bundesliga Table Tennis league, with the world number 18 being unveiled on Monday  by the management of the club.

The deal, which was negotiated by WEOAllSports, will see Quadri - who competed for Nigeria at the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics, reaching the quarter-finals in the latter competition - join the club at the start of the new season which begins in September 2020.

According to the President of TTC RhönSprudel Maberzell Fulda, Stefan Frauenholz, the decision to sign Quadri was based on the team’s certitude that the Nigerian has a lot to offer based on his global achievements.

“We are so lucky to sign Aruna Quadri because he is such a good player with excellent results. This is a family club and we believe his passion and interest tally with the ideals of the club. We are so happy to unveil him today and we hope he can bring his wealth of experience to help the team next season,” Frauenholz said.

Quadri participated in the 2017 ITTF World Challenge Bulgaria Open where he advanced to the semi-finals before being defeated by eventual winner Dimitrij Ovtcharov in a hotly-contested encounter.
