Nigerian Woman Scammed of 235,000 Naira By Online Fraudsters

Following the recent back and forths about the EndSARS protest and the need to monitor the operation and day-to-day dealing of SARS and Police Officers of the Nigerian force, some sections of the Nigerian public have also raised issues regarding internet fraud during the protest. This was the reality of a Lagos Civil Servant who was scammed a lump sum of 235,000 naira from her account.

The victim of this heartless ordeal who spoke to AllNews asked to be anonymous but expressed her displeasure at the wicked machinations common among young people with tech skills that could have been harnessed and exploited for bettering Nigerian.

As regards the EndSARs Protest, she said “government should fish out 419 youths who go about sending fake messages and make fraudulent phone calls to hardworking Nigerians who are also trying to make ends meet”

She also said “I went to the bank yesterday (Tuesday) immediately I was scammed a total of 235,000 naira, but I was told that they would try their best to trace the account and give me a reply as soon as they can”

She gave more details that the 419 fraudster sent her a message that seemed real and she supposed was sent by First Bank, indicating that her account would be blocked unless the account funds are cleared first before they can fix the supposed malfunction wrong with the bank account, eventually she was deceived into sending all her bank details and ATM pin, in the hopes that her account would be fixed.

Further investigations showed that the money fraudulently removed from her account was sent to several other bank accounts so as to cover up their trail, while she keeps hoping and praying that her money would be successfully traced by the bank.
