Nike VP Resigns After Reports Of Her Son's Sneakers Business

Nike Inc executive Ann Hebert resigned from her role on Monday after spending over 25 years with the company following a Bloomberg Businessweek report about her son operating with chutzpah a lucrative business reselling sneakers and using a credit card in her name.

"Ann Hebert, VP/GM, North America geography has decided to step down from Nike, effectively immediately,” a company statement reads. “We thank Ann for her more than 25 years with Nike and wish her well.”

On February 25, an exposé on Joe Hebert, her 19-year-old son's fast-growing sneaker company was reported, which showed how much exploits the teenager had done in the secondary market. According to the report, his company, West Coast Streetwear, has figured out how to use technology and chutzpah — extreme self-confidence or audacity — to buy hot sneakers in bulk before the rest of the market. He then routinely resell the shoes at handsome profit margins.

Joe said his mother was "so high up at Nike as to be removed from what he does." He added that she had never given him any insider information, such as discount codes, but Sandra Carreon-John, a Nike spokeswoman, says Ann Hebert disclosed relevant information about West Coast Streetwear to Nike in 2018.

“There was no violation of company policy, privileged information or conflicts of interest, nor is there any commercial affiliation between WCS LLC and Nike, including the direct buying or selling of Nike products,” Carreon-John said.

Nike also stated that it was Ann's decision to resign from the company after spending less than nine months as Vice President and that it planned to announce a new head of its North America division shortly
