NiMet Warns Of Flooding In Next Two Months

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has warned of more rainfalls in the next two months due to increased rains. 

This was disclosed by the Director-General of the agency, Professor Mansur Bako Matazu on Monday.

Bako who disclosed during the Sunrise Daily, a programme on Channels said following the damages caused by floods around the country, more rain is expected in the coming months.

It was previously reported that heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in Funakaye Local Government Area of Gombe State.

The flood resulted in the killing of a three-year-old boy while his sibling sustained injuries.

According to reports, the rain that led to the flood lasted five hours. 

Meanwhile, the Gombe State Government sent a delegation who visited the victims with the intention of supporting them on Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya's directive. 

The NiMet DG said his agency had issued warnings to Nigerians of the disaster but their warnings fell on deaf ears.

He further said Nigerians who dump refuses in drainages and cut down trees have been the contributing factors for the floods.
