Recall that AllNews had earlier reported that the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) issued a two weeks ultimatum to all network providers to block sim cards that are not linked with an account number.

Following the directives, Lagosians on Monday flocked en mass to NIMC office in Lagos in a bid to obtain their NIN.

However, the development stands as a setback against measures by the government of Lagos state to curb the second wave of Coronavirus

Claiming that the Federal Government had been pleading with Nigerians to enrol in the NIMC, Ahmad tweeted:

“For several years, the government has been urging Nigerians to enrol in the NIMC because of its importance, especially the National Identification Number (NIN).

“I enrolled in 2012, but unfortunately not many heeded the call.

“Just don’t know why Nigerians love last-minute thing.”
