NLC Strike: Banks In Lagos Disregard Service Withdrawal Orde

On Tuesday, some commercial banks ignored the directive for withdrawal of service by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports Access Bank, First Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), Zenith Bank, and Sterling Bank were among those that opened with customers present in them.

The banks were located in Ikorodu, Anthony, Maryland, Ojuelegba and Iponri areas of Lagos State.

NLC declared a two-day strike to express the union's condemnation of the hardship experienced by citizens of the country due to the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.

The National Union of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions Employees (NUBIFIE), in a circular dated September 2, directed all organs of the union to comply with the NLC strike.
